My New Red Shiny Car

2012 Camry from Brown's Toyota in Glen Burnie, Maryland
It has been 16 years since I bought a new car. You can see my old red Saturn station wagon in the background. It has nearly 194,000 miles and has suited me well. I've always loved it. It is practical, comfortable and dependable.

Now I have a new love...a cherry red Camry with some nice new features that my old car didn't have, including blue-tooth for hands-free phone while driving. I answer with a touch to the steering wheel.

Of course, I like other things about it...good gas mileage, smoothness, dashboard readouts, comfortable roomy seats, nice sound system I can use with my iPod, design. However, one weak spot in design, at least for shorter people like me, is that when I back up, visibility is very slim. In my old station wagon I could see much better when I was backing up. Lately I've been backing up ever so slowly. People must think a senior is driving the car.  : )

Oh, and before I forget to mention it, the people at Brown's were very nice with a special big shout out to Shan! With her friendliness and professionalism, she made this experience a good one for my husband David and me.

This car has an aesthetic appeal in its design that makes me want to bring out my camera soon to seriously work on abstracts of my new Camry. Meanwhile, here are just a few done quickly this morning:

By the way, anyone want to buy my beloved Saturn for $1200? You might have to show me references because I don't want to sell it to just anyone.

  2. That's a very creative shot @ the last picture! Well, you are lucky that your old car had 194k miles on its belt. It means that, as an owner, you did a great job of maintaining it. But just like other things, but sometimes change can bring along something better, and it's great that you have a new car now. Cheers to you!

  4. Whoa?! You have the same previous car "Saturn" as this blog-owner, Bonnie: http://2012mazda6.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-new-car.html. It also took some time for him to buy a new car - it's been 7.5 years since his last purchase. Anyway, I'm glad that you also know how to take care of cars. BTW, your new cherry red Camry looks absolutely attractive, how much were you able to buy it?

  5. Whoa, talk about shiny! There’s something about that style of car that just makes it look its best in red. One of the best things about your new car is that it came with the Bluetooth phone-calling. Is that OnStar, by any chance? I think it’s a great thing to have in the car because it keeps your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road, while letting you make and receive important calls at the same time.

  6. I think Toyota Camry has a built in parking sensors that can assist you while backing up to park, do your Camry have that feature? Anyway, Camry is truly one of Toyota's prize possession. I mean, it was built for executives and businessman alike. So, who bought your Saturn for $1,200?

  7. I love your shiny red car! You’ve definitely made the right choice going for the Cherry Red Camry. This car has been proven to be reliable, economical, and safe. It is a car that offers the best of both worlds: it offers the comforts of a true luxury vehicle, yet still makes use of very little gas.

  8. Your shiny red Camry looks awesome! You sure know how to pick a color that will stand out. I think your Saturn also looked good when you first bought it, just like the Camry. And I hope that you would also take care of the Camry just like you did the Saturn.

  9. Nice Red Car! I bet this car is one of the best cars in the market nowadays. And I also think that this kind of car must be maintained from time to time. I suggest that you wash the car, as well as its body. Check the engine’s oil regularly to avoid oil leakage, and check the tire’s air pressure once a month and before any extended road trips to avoid accidents and unexpected interruptions.

  10. I know it's a bit late to say this, but I'll say it anyway: Congratulations on the new car, Bonnie! It's quite gorgeous! :) You know what? Since 1997, the Toyota Camry has been the best-selling car in America every year, save for 2001, if I'm not mistaken.
